I’m not sure about the dates. These are collected photos from Grandma (Jean) Bonjour of her father’s brother Walter in uniform.

Uncle Walt

1925 November - November · La Jolla, San Diego, California

“Thanksgiving Day on the shore of La Jolla, Calif. Uncle Walt” was written on the back, I’m not sure who wrote it. I’m also not sure about the date.

Walt and a Cactus

1925 November · California, USA

I’m guessing this picture was taken in Southern California, because of the cactus and because there was another picture of Walt in La Jolla wearing a uniform.

Walt Inspecting His Bayonet

1925

I think this photo was labelled 1919. Looks like Walt is maybe inspecting his bayonet?

This very much looks like Walt. However, Walt didn’t muster into the Marines until 1925. And in 1919 he was only 16!

second portrait of Walter

1926 · Wisconsin, USA

Walt was 16 when the war ended, but entered the Marines in 1925. I wonder what the medals were for. I found one record that said “Exp. eml. Char: Excellent. Awd. CGMed.” I’m not sure what all the abbreviations mean, but it looks positive.
