Glenn’s 84th Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Grandpa’s 84th birthday at Old Mill Park, in fine Bonjour tradition. We held it in the newly renovated shelter house. Lots of Bonjours and relations were there, and we had a great time with lots of good food.

C had a fine time playing with the new equipment near the shelter house.

Ruby enjoyed listening to Ray play the guitar, and Alicia enjoyed playing with Ruby’s curls.

I think Ray doesn’t want Ruby to re-tune the guitar.

Everyone was bummed this picture didn’t turn out; it would have been a good one of Scott and dad.

We had a good time getting better acquainted with my dad’s cousins Pete and Connie on this trip. It was so great they could make it out.

Scott is helping C get yet another drink of lemonade.

This is a better picture of Grandpa and the cake. I think it’s so cute that grandma brought the young picture of grandpa. Behind grandpa there is also a little montage of pictures of another of our joint birthday parties when I was 11.

Too bad C isn’t looking. I guess 3 out of 4 isn’t bad. It’s a pretty good picture, though. So I think this will be our Sunday Picture this week.

This is Amy and her nephew (Gloria’s grandson). This was the first time I ever met him, and I can’t remember his name. Sorry!

Ray brought his guitar and played a few songs, and then Scott took over and played a few, too.

Uncle Gary sang us a song, too!

Scott is playing “Ob-la-di, Ob-la-dah” and everyone is singing along.

We gave grandpa a pack of Virgil’s rootbeer. It really is the best rootbeer we have ever had. Rootbeer is his favorite, too, and I know he is not supposed to drink beer anymore.

The stupid camera ran out of memory while I was taking this movie, and I was so bummed. Grandma was singing to grandpa, a song that was a favorite of theirs from back in the day.

Jean is chatting with her nephew, Scottie, who appears to be two feet taller than she is.

I hope Amy wasn’t offended that I took this picture… I just thought the disparity was funny — these two, from the same gene pool!

We took Ruby up to the playground for a little late-night teeter-tottering.

Ruby liked the teeter totter.
