At the Iowa City Children’s Museum

We visited the Iowa Children’s Museum today. It was really great. I was a big fan of the Children’s Museum in Portland, but this one had more space and seemed in general better kept-up. It was also pretty busy, there seemed to be a lot of school field trips. Downstairs C enjoyed the store and the ambulance/doctor’s office, but then we discovered the farm upstairs and that is where we spent the rest of our time. It was so cool!

I really liked these mats in the baby section; they were individual hexagons that attached together by velcro tabs. Ruby liked it too!

We also liked this little mural on the wall. Parts were crinkly and shiny or fuzzy. Ruby found in very engaging.

The game with the wheelbarrow was classification. You go and collect the plastic vegetables from the field, and then put them in their corresponding bins.

C loved pushing the wheelbarrow. He pushed it all over the farm.

There was this sort of bubble window, and Ruby was having a really great time playing with the other little girl through the window.
