Halloween!

The Jarviks (well, Tyler, Tanya, and Ravenna, anyway — Everest had his own festivities) came over to go trick-or-treating with us. Ravenna was a snow queen, Apl was a rat (not a mouse! she wanted to be a rat), and Ruby was mermaid (a costume of her own design).

C, the paragon of consistency, was Darth Vader.

And Katy and I… well, our costumes were less specific, I guess. Katy was masquerading as… a woman? And we spent much of the evening trying to figure out exactly what I was. (But whatever it was, we all agreed it was a lot.)

I liked Tanya’s reverse-engineered family theme for our costumes: a wealthy ship captain and his wife (possibly creepy clockwork wife, with that mask!), a bilge rat from his ship, and a mermaid princess he found on his voyages … and Darth Vader.

What? Is that a gap in them thar teeth? Yep, Ruby lost her incisor the night before. She augmented her flashlight/scepter and mask with shells, and actually had a very nice headband with shells on it, too, that isn’t as apparent in this photo.
