with Chris
Reminds me of the $11 hotel in Porto Escondido that had paneling INSTEAD of walls (don’t lean on them, they fall down) and great big holes knocked in the brick walls of the bathroom instead of windows.
That was a fun night.

Chris’s Blue Shirt
2001 September 26, Wednesday
This was one of the shirts I made for Chris that summer. It fit nice, and was flattering, and was all around a great learning experience for me in clothing consturction. Wendy was a great teacher. It was also a learning experience about buying fabric out of the bargain bin — after a little more than a year, it was visibly fading to pinkish, and after a couple of years it was a mottled tan. Chris doesn’t wear it anymore :(

This was the cheapest hotel that we stayed in. I think it was about $14 a night (maybe I’m remembering that wrong?). It was by no means the poorest quality, though… that prize will probably go to the no-window place in Madrid; or maybe the Three Ducks in Paris; or that place in the red light district in Amsterdam (hey, none of the red lights are on during the day when you’re looking for a hostel!) where you couldn’t shut the bathroom door without standing on the toilet.
Anyway, Ronda was a beautiful gem in the countryside. Cheap, walkable, amiable, and interesting. They opened up a new local- and natural history museum since the last time I was here. All very nice.
