C did this one at home, actually. He didn’t tell me what his intentions were, but it’s rather anthropromorphic shape there on the left, and some nice pre-writing on the right.

This one C describedto me in detail, and I attempted to label the parts: a boat with lots of flapping sails, long and short. I also see him practicing “C” at the top, and the next letter was intended to be “M”, I’m sure, but he often inverts it. At the bottom he practices writing “i, c, v”.

A possible favortite of mine. Entitled “Bird with poop and pee.” It is remarkably representational.
This has to be a favorite of mine. Not only is the shape quite good, but the “poop and pee”… that’s just brilliant!

More writing practice. He’s picke up capital letters from his friends’ name tags at school. I’ve been focusing on lowercase letters with him, because that’s what you see in print mostly.

I see a box in the center, which I suspect to be from the metal inset (tracing shapes) work in his classroom. The he just kind of went crazy.

He was totally in love with his house when he brought it home. He cut a flap for the door, and even cut a tiny notch for the door handle. He also made a little face and cut it out, and cut a shape out of a piece of paper he colored.

It’s always a treat when the children bring home the artwork they’ve been doing at school. I go through it and keep the ones that seem more interesting to me. More and more throughout last year, C has been giving them titles and describing what he was thinking about when he drew them. Some of them even lean toward representational!
