This reflector thing was marking some important feature of Grandpa’s lawn (a pipe or something he didn’t want to mow over). Ruby had a good time with it, thwacking it back and forth, or standing next to it with it under her chin.

Dad said he used to play on this fire hydrant when he was a kid, too.
Grandma Susie had all kinds of fun ideas for things to do with the kids. I think she’s been storing them up all year. This time it was leaf raking and jumping. The kids loved it so much, they still talk about it. There’s one particularly tree-lined section of our walk to school and they always ask if we can rake up the leaves and jump in them. I explain to them that stree/parking lot leaves are not as nice as gradma’s yard leaves.
