Johannes comes for Thai Food

I’ve been rediscovering Thai food recently, since some friends told us about a great Asian market that is right near our house. (It was there all along! I just never saw it, walked right past…) So we invited Johannes over to share the bounty of spring rolls, coconut-lime shrimp skewers, peanut satay chicken, and coconut/shrimp green-curry noodle soup.

I experimented with a new spring roll ingredient: radishes. They made for a really beautiful presentation, but I think I’m not a super fan of the taste. A little extra crunch was nice in the roll, though.

I’ve been inspired to make Thai food recently. We found a new Asian food store pretty near to us, and I’m having a lot of fun with it.

As for the rest of the week, we skipped dugnad at C’s school on Monday and went to IKEA to get new lamps. Friday C went to work with Chris. Saturday we picked up the hand-me-down bike from one of Chris’s coworkers. Already C is a little too big for it! Sunday was a trip out to Lillestrøm. I checked out a moving sale of a New-to-Oslo member and got a couple sweaters’ worth of yarn to recycle. Also this week C and I have been getting up early to work on reading/writing before he goes to school. I don’t know what he is doing at school, but it’s not this. And he’s really ready for it, and it’s really exciting. And! We put away the diapers for good this week. Ruby is officially and totally day-and-night potty trained. She’s been for a while, actually, I was just too lazy to put the diapers away. Will we get them out again? When … ?
