Katy’s January Aran

I gave myself a project this year: knit along with Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Knitter’s Almanac. The first project is an aran sweater, and it was a joy to knit. Especially since I had so much time sitting on my rear in January.

I had originally planned on using a steek between the two central cables to make this into a cardigan. I like it as a sweater right now, but I might make it a cardigan later.

The diamondy one is called fishtrap, and it was not all that fun to work. The cables were fun, though, on a 7 stitch repeat.

Knit in the round, one big cylinder, up to the shoulders. I steeked the armholes with the crochet technique. They set in rather well. The back is the same as the front.
