Page 6 of Violet’s Album

There were a couple of pictures on this page, but one was missing. Also, I noticed a few others that match these among Violet’s other pictures.

Violet wrote: “to the right his [Carl’s] sweetie, ’Byo’ Taken in Columbus Park, Austin, 1923 Just before going Horse back riding.” I have no idea what the nickname “Byo” is supposed to mean! Grandma (Jean, their daughter) said Carl called Violet “Sunshine”. 1923… I think that makes Violet about 16 years old.

I only scanned part of this page, I left out the empty spot to the left. Violet wrote (but the picture is missing): “To the left, Carl Scherman… to the right his sweetie, ’Byo’ Taken in Columbus Park, Austin, 1923. Just before going Horse Back Riding.”

I googled and found this about Columbus Park, which is outside of Chicago: “designed by renowned landscape architect Jens Jensen, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Along with its cascading waterfalls and well-maintained lawns, the 135-acre park offers a variety of recreational activities.”
