Morning Play Time

Usually C is too strong to play with Ruby in any kind of tumbling/rolling around kind of play. He’s just too big, and isn’t careful enough yet not to plant a heel in her face. But slowly he’s getting better at it. Ruby is also getting bigger, and better able to fend off his flailing limbs! They started playing on the bed this morning; I think they were playing “driving” where they drive to Spain or Portugal. First they pile up pillows and stuff around themselves (the “car”) and then make funny noises and bounce around.

To make a car noise, C clears his throat over and over.

C and Ruby, cuties

2007 April 15 · 9:38AM · Sunday

Sunday Picture of the bed bugs… no pictures of the mama this week, but there is this one of the papa.

The big news this week is that Ruby is 100% potty trained. This week we started night potty training. The nights went: dry, wet, wet, dry, wet, and then dry, dry, dry! Yay Ruby! Yay mama no more diaper washing!

We also got a spot for Ruby at Treklang (C’s school). I’ve recently been pretty unhappy with his progress there (both in Norwegian and generally academically), and they had a freaking clown at school last week. We accepted the spot when it was offered to us, though. There is a possibility of moving her into the schools where I interviewed (it’s system of associated schools).

Monday was still Easter vacation, but our friend Hallvord had a birthday party. I had tons of fun, it was really great. Met some real Norwegians, spoke Norwegian, ate great Japanese food (his wife is Japanese), Chris juggled. Wednesday was a quiet game night with just Arne Martin. We played Entdecker. Thursday we had a lovely dinner picnic in the park (Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, moroccan couscous, apple/bleucheese/walnut salad). Chris stayed home headachey on Friday. Saturday we did got out to get our fancy new blender, but Sunday we stayed home even though the weather has been super nice and beautiful.

Ruby sits on the C-car

Amusingly, I recently learned that Ford (I think) has a car called the C-Max.

Ruby and C smiling at each other

Moments like this… non-screamy, non-grabby, together moments… they are rare.
