Visiting a New Park

2006 May 6, Saturday · Oslo, Norway

MORE +

We recently found a new park near our house, and it’s great! It’s in the middle of the student housing near us, so there are a lot of families with young children around. C enjoyed the climbing wall, though he never climbed very high. He mostly just put pebbles on the hand-holds. There was a very large snakey structure for climbing, and a very nice big sandbox. On the way home, Ruby was so tired she was falling asleep. It was too early for nap, so to avoid letting her fall asleep, we let her walk. I think she was actually sleepwalking some of the way home. It was really funny. (So funny I couldn’t even take a picture of how she was walking with both arms out in front of her and her head bowed, but I took a couple after we woke her up from the sleepwalking).

C explored the fountain

2006 May 6 · 9:25AM · Saturday

The fountain was really beautiful, and seemed to be set up for water play. The edge was very low, and easy to kneel next to and reach in. The water level is very low; easy for short legs to walk through, but deep enough for little butts to sit in. The large part with the falling water looked like it would be fun to run through. It seems like someone put a lot of thought into it.

C loves the big snake!

Notice C’s new sandals. It was definitely time to find new footwear, as the weather was turning warm and his boots were getting too small. But we had a really hard time finding anything that would work for spring and summer, was easy for him to put on by himself, and didn’t have spiderman on it. We finally settled on these.

Ruby loves swinging, yay!

Yay spring! This is a great picture with all the wonderful sun. Reminds me of my preschool photo, sitting on a swing but 3 yrs old, pudgier and more hair. :-)

Chris and Ruby

2006 May 6 · 12:45PM · Saturday

Ruby was really tired on the way home. Chris is checking on her; she had been walking with her arms held out in front of her, and her head hung down. I think she had her arms out so she wouldn’t walk into anything. She was making a little “nnneeeeehhhhh” kind of sound, too. Zombie!

C and his tractor

As I took this picture I was saying “C please don’t let your tractor roll all the way to the bottom of the hill!” It would have been a long way down to go back and get it.
