Ruby’s checking herself out in the mirror. She is wearing C’s underwear over her diaper. She put them on herself! Ok, I helped a little. She got the waistband in both hands, but was having a hard time getting around her feet, so I helped her get her arms around her legs the right way. Then she was having the two-feet-one-hole problem (or “one hole!!!” as C used to gleefully exclaim) and I helped her with that. And she pulled them up most of the way, too, but had a hard time with the big diaper butt in the back. Go Ruby!

Ruby tackling Ander

Ander is, as usaul, very tolerant of Ruby’s abuse.
Ander, the long-suffering

I think if someone wrote an epic poem about our household, Ander’s epithet would be “Ander the long-suffering”. I’m open to suggestions for the rest of us.

Berry Ruby

I was getting a little sick of the monotonous winter produce offerings at the store (apple, banana, orange, apple, banana, orange…) so I got a frozen berry mix for us to try. They were pretty good, but some of them were tart. Ruby didn’t seem to mind a bit!

Watch out below!
2006 March 3 · 5:15PM · Friday
As we were going about our afternoon, I happened to notice a gigantic ball of snow plummeting to the ground outside. In bewilderment, I peered around trying to figure out what was going on. Was snow falling off the roof? No, that man up there is shovelling his balcony. He tosses shovelfull after shovellfull over the side, with seemingly no warning to whoever is in the street below. What you can’t see in this picture is the people smoking outside the bar on the first floor, huddled in terror against the building.
It has been so cold and snowy, we have hardly gone out for days. The children have been getting a little cabin fever — so have I. It snowed yet again today, and it was quite lovely. It’s not as cold as back home (in Fairbanks), but it sure feels colder when you’re schlepping groceries with no car.
