Gathering firewood — December 3, 2005

We have really been enjoying our new wood stove. We’ve gotten a bunch of wood delivered, but it’s hard to make a fire without kindling. We got some fire-starter squares, but it still works best with a few little sticks. So, we go to the park to fill up the wagon with firewood.

Ruby is a vision of loveliness in pink snow gear!

C and Chris are getting some fallen branches from under this tree. The yellow building behind them is our Åpen Barnehage.

Ruby is all bundled up, asleep in the wagon. Norwegian kids love to sleep outside in their strollers — every Norwegian mother will swear that the child will sleep longer and more soundly. Sure, everyone sleeps longer and more soundly in hibernation!

Where’s Ruby? — Dec 3, 2005 at 1:50 pm

Sticks to the left, baby to the right. Ruby is all bundled up and toasty warm, taking a nap in the wagon. Like a true Norwegian!

C doesn’t walk very softly, but he is happy to carry a big stick!

On our way back home, we found something strange stuck in a snow bank: this badminton racket, and a jar of jam. The jam was from last year.

Chris waits patiently for C to finish shoveling snow with the badminton racket. Ruby is still all bundled up in the wagon under all those blankets.

Now that Ruby is awake, she is not sure how she likes this whole “cold” thing.
