According to Fred Bonjour’s website (geocities is now defunct so I can’t link to it) , Fred H. Bonjour arrived in New York in the early 1850’s where he wed Julia Simon and they moved to Kansas eventually. This census must be of them. The website also mentions an Alfred Bonjour, who was married to Melanie, Julia’s sister. And Alfred’s brother Gustave was married to Eugenie, Fred’s sister. So… they are related somehow. But I don’t think this is Frederick Amiel Bonjour that I’m directly related to.

This is the 1880 census record that reflects a number of Bonjours. It may be Fredrick Amiel, who ultimately settled in Apple River, in Illinois. But maybe he lived in Kansas before that? There are mismatches with the other data I have, so I think that this family of Bonjours may not be Fredrick Amiel and Julia Marie. Though there are similarities… Anyway, there is a F. H. Bonjour, age 60, who is a farmer, born in Switzerland. His wife is named as Julia A. (50) Their children are named as F. H. (?) (24), Charkes A. (22), Leo Paul (17), Anna E. (15), Eloise (13), Lucia A. (11), Zelia (9). Note that the census was recorded by Alfred Bonjour, who is no doubt related in some way, also.
