Sandy Water — April 28, 2012 at 4 pm

Wendy got me three balls of this yarn for Christmas two years ago and I’ve been working on this shawl in fits and starts since then. At first the garter stitch center was the perfect knit to bring to stitch-n-bitch, but that meant I only worked on it for about 3 hours per week. I powered through the lace border and then came the knit-on edge … wow, that took a long time. Just 8 rows of 13 stitches (approximately), but allllll the way around the edge … that was a lot of stitches.

Ultimately I think the result is very nice! The colors really go together very well. I was skeptical when I got to the lace edge whether or not I would like the color change around the edge, but now I really do like it.

This corner is where I started the knit-on border, you can see the color change. At first I was prepared to hide this corner thinking the mismatch of color wouldn’t be nice, but I think it actually looks kind of cool!
