Asymmetrical Stripe Triangle — April 24, 2012

I made this back in Oslo when I was trying to pare down the stash before the move. I gave away a lot of the scarves/small projects that I made during that time, but I really liked this one and I thought there might be a design idea in there somewhere. Not that I have time to fool around with designing. The idea was planted when I made my Baktus scarf, I loved how the stripes ran vertically and almost diagonally. I’ve also loved the striking combination of vibrant color-changing yarns and neutral yarns that I’ve seen here and there.

I started with 4 stitches at the small end of the triangle, increased one stitch every 4th row until it seemed like I was running out of yarn. I made a button hole on the straight edge (top edge) and then did feather and fan until I was out of yarn. I was surprised that the feather and fan section ended up being quite a bit longer that the actual scarf section. It has this funny little sweep at the bottom edge of the scarf (the point of the v, if that makes sense). I usually tuck in under. I actually almost never wear this outside a jacket/sweater. I like it tucked in best.
