I went to a baby shower/ blessingway for an old friend here in Portland, and this is the vest I made for her. It’s the Milo vest, with the heart cable variation. I actually only did two hearts with some trailing cables like balloon strings, to symbolize the strong mama-baby bond. This was a super fast knit, started it literally the day before the shower. The yarn is a silk-wool blend that I bought more than 10 years ago in Baltimore. I toyed with it in a couple of other projects, but it never quite worked; then I used it as the binding yarn at C’s blessingway (you sit everyone in a big circle and pass the yarn around, and have everyone loop it around their wrists, then when the circle is complete everyone breaks the yarn and makes bracelets to wear until the baby is born.). It seemed fitting to use this yarn from my first baby’s blessingway to knit something for my friend’s first baby.
