Mr. Mallard

We saw these duckies along the way, they were totally tame and just watched us go past.

Mrs. Mallard was a little more suspicious than Mr. Mallard.

While C was waiting his turn for bow practice, I went over to the bakery tent. These ladies were cooking up some good and authentic flatbread out of oat and barley flour. The traditional toppings were butter and honey. Super yum!

This was Henrik Wergeland’s study at Akershusfestning. The door was covered by plexiglass, and there was this little snake peeking out. I asked around the Suttung people I know, and nobody really knew why, just that he often wrote about nature. Odd!

For “Tourist in Your Own City” Day we got our free tickets to the Akershusfestning, the fortress above the harbor. There was a small medieval exhibition, with a blacksmith, archery, etc. The costumes was the best part, it made me want to take up sewing again (especially the baby costumes, adorable!) C got to try archery for the very first time ever, and he got back in line for it about 5 or 6 times. After we enjoyed the exhibition outside we toured through the castle, which is beautifully furnished, but dark, so not good for taking photographs!
