Suttung — January-February, 2010 |
||
|
Since we started homeschooling, we joined a Suttung group so that C could have continued exposure to Norwegian. I’m not very familiar with the movement, but so far they sing songs, practice a theater piece, and then listen to a story and make a drawing to illustrate the story afterwards.

on the bus to Suttung — Feb 4, 2010 at 4:54 pm |

We usually take the bus with our friends, but the location really isn’t all that far away from the kids’ kindergarten.

Ruby and Beate — Jan 14, 2010 at 5:52 pm |

|
Ruby got the role of “Princess” in the play. She learned her lines and could say them at home, but she always got this shy/coy stage fright when it came to actually saying them during rehearsal. I guess it’s good to be practicing public speaking now, if this is her innate attitude!

practicing a scene — Feb 4, 2010 at 5:38 pm |

Alf-Eivind, Airi Luise, and C Maximus were dogs who are supposed to carry around the princess at various times during the play. Difficult, but amusing, to actually try to do.

Apl loves Suttung, too — Feb 18, 2010 at 5:48 pm |

Apl wouldn’t always come with us. Sometimes she takes a late nap in the afternoon, so we’d leave her home with Chris. But she loves it when she does come. She loves the song time the most, but she would also toddle around excitedly during rehearsal, like she was a part of the play, too.

love the decorations — Jan 14, 2010 at 5:28 pm |

The apartment is lined with pictures and bits and original works of art. The one with the grey frame along the rail was made by Hallvord’s mom.

story time — Jan 28, 2010 at 6:07 pm |
||
|
At the end of the evening, the children sit and have a snack while Hallvord reads a traditional story to them. Traditional stories are kind of crazy sometimes! After the reading, the children would draw a little picture. Interesting to see the level of comprehension… and attention. Sometimes C would start to draw a prince on horseback for example, but then a few exploding bombs or thermal detonators would get thrown in for spice.
