“Purple Surprise”… sounds a little like a jello dessert :). This is my fourth Baby Surprise Jacket! I knit it for cousin Zach’s new baby, Emily. Modelled by our own Apl Ina.

Knit with PT5 Sport (Per Tryving). I chose this because it was soft enough and machine washable, which seemed more appropriate for a modern busy young mother who probably hasn’t had a lot of experience with washing woolens. I know EZ says one should not pander to this demographic, but I think she said this mostly because she felt strongly about the inferiority of artificial fibers (why don’t we just call them “unnatural” fibers?). I’m guessing EZ would have approved of the new high-quality treated washable wools.

I love the lively stripes! This pattern is such a no-brainer for a perfect baby gift.

Knit with a 3.5 mm needle, it turned out to be a perfect 6-month size.
