opening Alf-Eivind’s present
2009 June 6 · 1:55PM · Saturday
Alf Eivind gave C a peace angel in a tiny box, and a stick of licorice “dynamite” which I think C was disappointed to learn would not acutally blow things up. But he liked how it tasted.
It was real dynamite! If I had real dynamtie I would set it on fire and explode a tree!

This was a little present I got for C; you hook the nose of the plane on a rubber band and shoot it like a sling shot. It’s got some holes in the nose so it makes this awesome “pweeeng” sound as it flies. I think I like it more than C does, actually. :)

Christian Andres used to go to C’s kindergarten, but moved on to 1st grade last year. We’ve only seen him once between then and now, so C was super excited to see him.

Gustav had a good idea of being friends. He took the ball and threw it to me, and then I threw it back! The tree was fruktstedt but Gustav still threw water at me.
I don’t know what fruktsted means… it sounds like “fruit place” but I don’t think that’s right.

Nicole is the daughter of a colleague of mine, and she is going to be in C’s class next year, so I thought they could get to know eachother a little better at C’s birthday party. It must have been a little intimidating, though, going to a party where you don’t really know anyone. I hope she had fun!

C’s birthday cake

C’s birthday cake request was chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, and merengues. Ruby helped me decorate it with dot-sprinkles. All the children at the party gathered round and helped put on the candles.

Well, it was a lot of preparation, and a lot of worrying about the weather, but all in all it was a success, and lots and lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who came to C’s 6th birthday party!
It’s like a baby mortarboard. Uber-cute!
We scheduled C’s birthday party for a few weeks after his actual birthday so that Grandma Susie could be there. I planned a picnic in the park and hoped for good weather (despite our history with C’s birthday parties being cold and/or rainy). The good weather came through, and C’s friends all came to enjoy grilling and cake at our favorite park.
