pretty lights

This picture was taken at a fancy building across the street from the market. I’m not really sure what it was — like a city hall or something, or a center of commerce or law?

the big market building

I love big market buildings like this! The produce was so varied and delicious looking. And there was this egg lady who had chicken, duck, and quail eggs! I don’t think I’ve even ever seen a quail egg in Norway. And the olive booth… hmmm!

C and the street performers
2008 May 2 · 3:44PM · Friday
As you can see from the laughing woman, the crowd was enjoying C at least as much as the musicians.
Why? Because he was just mesmerized by them! He’s always loved street musicians. But this time, we started watching from across the square, but then he started taking these half-inch steps, on the beat, toward the musicians. (He did not seem to be aware that he was doing this.) But it went on for like two minutes (!!) until he closed the distance. It was hilarious: this odd hypnotic-zombie-walk thing.
C at some big fancy doors

We just happened past these doors, they were just some random apartment building. I loved the carvings, though, especially the 4-armed swirls near the top. So pretty!
Our vacation was drawing to a close, and this day was for taking care of loose ends. We did laundry, visited local yarn stores, the big market (I love those!), and waited and waited for our chosen lunch place to open. We didn’t end up getting a seat on the terrace, but it was the best meal we had the whole vacation (in my opinion).
