Katy testing the wine
2007 November 25 · 9:53AM · Sunday
I was testing my wine before incorporating it into one of the dishes. It’s… ok… not bad, but not remarkable. Really, in any way. It’s kind of bland. We have higher hopes for the next batch.

C was actually a big help today, in a lot of little ways. Too bad he didn’t have laser vision to help cook the turkey faster. That was the only crimp in the plans. It took an hour and a half longer to cook than I thought, and threw the whole schedule off. One day a year I’d love to have two big fancy ovens in a Martha Stewart kitchen.

Ruby taking a nap
2007 November 25 · 2:48PM · Sunday
It was a pretty busy day, and when naptime came I just kind of tossed Ruby in the bedroom and said “sleep!”. Chris found her asleep, holding my current reading selection.
I would love to be able to do that sometimes.

Chris cutting pie
2007 November 25 · 7:10PM · Sunday
The pumpkin pie was a sad flop — it was pretty late at night and I was making two pies, but in two different bowls. By the time I got to the second pie I thought “I’m making two pies. I’m doubling the recipe. 1 + 1 = 2 teaspoons of cloves…” and apparently I forgot to put sugar in both of them. Sad that we didn’t get to offer pumpkin pie to our guests, but also sad that canned pumpkin costs about $8 a can here, so we were out about $16 worth of pumpkin!

This Week’s Pictures
2007 November 25, Sunday
Thanksgiving! My favorite holiday! And there were even pictures of all of us. :)
We invited a lot of people this year, and almost no one who came last year. We like to share the love!
