I’ve been trying to learn more about using the nice camera, here are a few practice shots that came out of our lesson.

Lunch Date — May 3, 2012

I took the girls out to the toy store and pizza for a little lunch-time excursion (so Papa and C could have some quiet time at home). We got a work book and a few tiny little animals the girls fell in love with.

Loving Portland — May 7, 2012 at 12:16 pm

Or at least, our back yard specifically: mint iced tea, various garden products, and a lovely view (not including the ugly restaurant roof behind there).

Thick and Thin — May 7, 2012 at 1:05 pm

Still haven’t finished this one yet, trying to show how the single-thread stripe compares to the triple-thread stripe.

Ring of Fire! — May 8, 2012

We contemplated a few different fire-containment solutions for the backyard. I wanted something more campfire like, but still easy to cook food on. We found the perfect solution! It’s just a big metal ring to keep the fire in (and the kids out) that has an adjustable grill mounted on it.

Fire Pit! — May 8, 2012 at 6:20 pm

We got a fire ring for the back yard! Ring of Fire! Ok, it’s really just a place to keep a cook fire contained, but it’s really cool. It has a pivoting grill and we got a few accessories: a pie iron, a sausage holder/cooker, and a bunch of forks. Awesome! Only problem was you have to be pretty close to the fire, and we seem to be able to only make very smokey fires. Kids’ solution: goggles!

Fire Musem — May 9, 2012 at 2:02 pm

There’s an old firehouse that was turned into a museum in our neighborhood. We visited one day, and it was a moderate amount of fun.
