Out Walking — October 1, 2009 at 10 am

Out walking on an early fall day, in handknits. Nothing better!

Light Vader — October 1, 2009 at 6 pm

Recently, I got to do what I had been waiting over 6 years to do: watch Star Wars with my son. We also got him a lego Darth Vader and TIE fighter.

Since then, there has been much Darth Vader play around the house. I don’t know what Ruby has gotten out of this, except that she knows Darth Vader is a big scary guy with a funny hat.

Then one day she comes in with this baby bath towel on her head, and announces that she is Light Vader. And she walks around just kind of being cute. Because that’s what Light Vader would do.

C’s Favorite Shirt — Oct 16, 2009 at 6:30 pm

Lauren gave C this shirt a long time ago, and he wouldn’t wear it for a long time. He said he was saving it the wear with Auntie Lauren. But now it’s his total favorite and it’s hard to get him to not wear it for days in a row. It even glows in the dark!

Baby, It’s Cold Out There — Oct 17, 2009 at 2:27 pm

It has been on the extreme side of cold this winter, ranging from -5°C on warm days to a numbing -20°C on the coldest days. We can’t heat the whole house at the same time, otherwise we’ll blow a fuse, so we’ve heated with the woodstove as much as we can. We finished more wood by January than we used last year… and now we’re well on the way to using twice as much as last year.

Sting Ray — Oct 18, 2009 at 1:46 pm

We’ve been trying to convince C to wear his hair in a ponytail (or cut it for kripe’s sake!) He chose this sting-ray style.

Ruby Hitler — Oct 26, 2009 at 7:16 pm

Halloween was approaching, so we dug out our old halloween stuff. One of them was a set of finger puppets from my folks, including Frankenstein’s hair, which Ruby thought would make a great mustache.

Oh, dear.

Halloween! — October 31, 2009

Halloween isn’t really a thing in Norway yet. At least not very much anyway. I think this will change in a couple of years as the younger generation catches onto the “free candy” aspect of the holiday. Anyway, we had a full day of Halloween fun with pumpkin carving, children’s theater Halloween show, and then waiting for trick-or-treaters at home.
