Chris was still jetlagging, so Ruby and I went to the park alone this morning (for her special day off school.) We played on the equipment and splashed in puddles. Then Chris met us for lunch at our favorite pizza place.

We missed Lauren while she was visiting back in San Diego. But now she’s back! Here Lauren is modelling the fingerless gloves I gave her for Christmas.

I finally got the hard copies of the second edition of my book! It’s substantially thicker than the first edition; very satisfying. It was more work than I thought it would be when I said I would do it, but I’m quite pleased with the results.

I should write another book. I find that I really love writing (to my utter amazement). I just… don’t really know what I would write about.

Now that the site is up, we can finally get back to putting up pictures of Ruby falling asleep in the entry-way after school. With her rain suit on.

This was one of the first things I ever knit, started in 1997 or 1998 and not finished until 2003 (there was a long knitting hiatus there). Now, as a more experienced knitter, there are a lot of things I would choose to do differently. The yarn and pattern, really :). More specifically, the buttonholes are too big and the button placket should be garter stitch so they don’t curl. Ah, well.

We are trying to get Apl a passport, and we were not sure how to get a passport picture of her. We don’t know any portrait studios around here (which is what we did for Ruby when she was a baby), and you can’t exactly stick a baby in one of those photo booths (Apl wasn’t even really holding up her head that well at the time.) We decided to try to take it ourselves. I think it’ll work ok, but we’ll see when we go to the embassy this week.

The kids are home all week for Spring/Easter break, and I’ve had a lot of fun keeping them occupied. We made “little mini pizzas” like one of their favorite youtube videos, baked cookies and muesli bread, dyed eggs, and had a spring-themed dinner. C did a lot of buidling with legos, played a lot of Spore, and worked on reading and writing this week. Ruby has been working on drawing, storytelling, singing, and some writing also. Apl has been working on smiling, eating, and pooping.
