The bumpy thing with the flat bottom near the top of the picture is a cloud. There are a few more around inthe picture. The lines with balls at the ends are rain. I love it!

This was the first time that C wrote “C Maximus.” He’s been signing things “C” or “C Max” for a while. His school does not focus on reading and writing the same way an American Montessori school would, and I told his teacher that we need to work more in this area. And then they spent two months playing outside when the weather got nice. But we’ve been working a bit at home and there’s been nice progress. He’s excited about the work that we do. He likes reading things I’ve written best and often pretends to forget letters when we are trying to read a book. I guess reading “Sam is a fat cat” is not really all that exciting. A recent favorite game was writing simple labels for him to place around the house: bed, cat, rug, stuff like that.

We had a little 4th of July picnic in the park, celebrating with the traditional grilling of hot dogs and apple pie (well, not grilling pie… you know what I mean). We all did our best to dress patriotically and a good time was had by all. We invited our friends Elisabeth and Håvard with their new baby Helena.

Reversed 14mm lens on the end of a pringles-can-extension-tube. I think this the viewable area is about 1.5mm across. It’s a close-up of woven fabric. It was wide-open, and not terribly stable, so it’s a crappy picture. I consider this a proof of concept — I’m working on a more solid macro tube and reversing adaptor.
