a red one — April, 2008

Another intersting thing about these shapes that I have observed, at least with C, is that he makes them rather quickly and sometimes draws them over and over (as with this booklet, which he made out of about 12 of these.)

C likes spirals as well — April, 2008

I remember discovering spirals. I’d try to see how tight I could make them. But of course your hand is never steady enough when you are 5 :).

C’s circles — April, 2008

It’s really common for children to start drawing these figures (circles with lines around the edge) at a certain point in their development. Often misinterpreted as the sun, or sometimes a person (depending on how many lines there are!), but it’s really just something that kids do.

Our Antique Spectacles — April 2, 2008

Chris found an antique glasses dealer on the internet, and we couldn’t pick just one pair. They were surprisingly cheap, considering the price of modern frames. We ordered three pairs, just in case, because we couldn’t try them before hand. I chose the gold frames, Chris chose the small silver pair. The square pair were left over, but they look fantastic on Johannes.

Montage — April 3, 2008 at 9 pm

I found out that our intranet at work, which has pictures of all the employees, scales according to the height of the pictures, but ignores the width. In other words, you could have as big a picture as you wanted as long as it wasn’t very tall. So I decided to make a montage…

Green Yarn — April 3, 2008 at 9 pm

This is Gedifra Tiago, a silk blend yarn. I plan on making a summer top for Ruby with it.

Bulgarian Beer Tasting — April 6, 2008

Stansilav invited us over to taste a Bulgarian beer he brought back from a recent visit home. It was a good beer, but I think the highlight for me was a tomato-pepper dip that I can’t remember the name of. Highly tasty. It was nice to spend some time with little Philip again, and we even helped Martin with his Norwegian homework. :)

Chris is a Billion! — April 11, 2008 at 10 pm

Chris turned a billion seconds old! That’s 1,000,000,000 seconds — confusingly referred to as milliard by some. We had a little party with Johannes and Arne Martin. We had some fanastic Mexican food and margaritas!
