C’s writing — August, 2007 |
I’ve been trying to teach C to read and write, since he’s not learning at school. He’s making slow but steady progress (mostly slow because I forget to work with him on it every day). These are little slips he wrote after sounding out the words.

Blueberry Hunt — August 4, 2007 |
It was a little early in the blueberry season, but we were hopeful. It was also one of the few dry weeks we’ve had this summer, so the forest was relatively dry. A good opportunity for just hiking around in the forest and such.

Surprise Birthday Trip! — August 5, 2007 |
Apparently, Chris has been embezzeling money from his “lunch budget” for the last nine months to save up money for a surprise birthday trip for us. I didn’t have a clue! Johannes and Lauren helped make arrangements, too. And it was great. Maybe the best birthday I’ve ever had. The first part of the trip was an overnight cruise south to Copenhagen. Lauren and the kids went with us down to the dock and waved as the ship chugged away.

The Best Birthday Evaaaar — August 6, 2007 |
Ok, the day went like this: leisurely breakfast on the ship, leisurely walk to the center of the city, leisurely stop at a pastry shop, leisurely stroll in the pedestrian only shopping district, checking into our hotel to find it’s the craziest place ever, awesome romp through two yarn stores, leisurely lunch (pizza prepared by actual Italians), more leisurely strolling and shopping, beer tasting and brewery tour (so cool!), leisurely stroll down to the docks where we had reservations at an organic (!) restaurant, leisurely dinner finished at like 10:30 (!), leisurely stroll back to the craziest hotel ever. This was seriously like the best birthday ever. Better than my fifth birhtday party where we had ballerina themed plates and cups and we got to make our own party hats. Better than my thirteenth birthday where we had a 6 foot sub and a shaving cream fight. Better than my twenty-first birthday where […edited for content…].

The Second Day — August 7, 2007 |
We woke up the second day and took some pictures of the crazy hotel room. Then we headed out for breakfast and a trip to a museum. We headed back to Oslo late in the afternoon. It was such a great trip!

Glenn’s Birthday Co-Celebration — August 11, 2007 |
I’m accumstomed to sharing Grandpa’s birthday celebrations, but this year we weren’t visiting until September, and other family was visiting in August, so I missed out! Little Riley was having a birthday and shared a party with his Great-great-great Uncle Glenn (or something like that…). There was picnicing at Old Mill, and cake afterword at the Eaton Street estate.

Patti and Family — Aug 11, 2007 at 8:26 pm |
Patti, in white, is my great-Aunt Sis’s daughter. This was taken in Savanna, I think. But I’m not totally sure. Her children are Bradley, Laurie, and Steve. Steve’s got three children, I’ve only met Riley and Emerald, but I don’t know the baby’s name. Sure is a cutie, though!

Happy Birthday Auntie Lauren — August 19, 2007 |
Lauren is in the last year of her twenties! We had a little get-together at our house with Lauren and Karl. We made a proper birthday celebration of it, with strawberry pie and a candle.

Off She Goes — Aug 23, 2007 at 9:30 am |

My mom had just sent this pink outfit (with skirt) so I took a picture of Ruby in it. Mom saw it in real life before I got around to posting this, though!
