intricate work — March, 2007 |
I wonder how he started this one. I love the dark spot at the top with the line down from it, all the way to the bottom. I thought it was neat how he made the small shape in the center and colored it in with different colors.

the other side of the pencil work — March, 2007 |
He folded the edges and wrote on the folds on this side, too. He also made a small circle in one part.

C’s hand — March, 2007 |
C has always loved to trace his hand, ever since he first did it with Mercedes.

C’s pencil work — March 10-19, 2007 |
I can’t tell if C did this sideways, making C-shapes, or if it was oriented like this. I think it was interesting, anyway, and he folded the corners in and wrote on the folds.

Metal Inset Work — March, 2007 |
A couple of products of the metal inset work came home with C in March. It warms the montessorian-cockles of my heart to see him doing this classic work. And I know it’s a great preparation for writing!

Waking up with C — Mar 3, 2007 at 11:20 pm |
C must have been awake for a little while when I woke up this morning. He usually sleeps next to me, shares half of my pillow. So when I woke up and rolled over to see if he was awake, he simply whispered, “I love you, Papa.” Yeah. This is why we have kids, I thought. “And also — I love Mama,” he continues. “But I do not love Ruby.”

Morning Portraits — March 4, 2007 at 1 pm |
We just out of the shower, and everyone was looking relatively cute. Ruby got ribbons in her hair, and C is wearing a matching turtleneck and sweatervest! Squee!

Live Long and Prosper — March 4, 2007 at 1 pm |
We have been doing all we can to empart the most important parts of American culture to the children, which is of course Star Trek. They both try to do the vulcan hand thing, but it’s hard. And C misunderstood us when we first said “Live Long and Prosper” and he said “Lenny Kropser”. We laughed at that, so predictably he’s never said it the correct way. Usually it’s some variation from “Donny Crossberg” to “Donkey Kronksberks”. And Ruby just says whatever he says. We’re trying here folks!

C is for Coffee-Grinder — Mar 4, 2007 at 1:27 pm |
… that’s good enough for me! C has one of those hand-crank coffee grinders made of clear plastic, so he can see the beans being chewed up by the little gears and falling in little bits into the drawer. He examines the fruit of his labors in these pictures.
