I am peering down into the tower at C; there is a chair in this tower, right next to the little window.

C’s Hand — December, 2005

This was a while ago; I’ve had it up on our bulletin board because I love it so much. This was the firs time that C traced his own hand. At the time, hand-tracing was something of an obsession for him.

Lauren and chopstick moustache — December, 2005

Andy took this picture of Lauren making a chopstick moustache. She says this picture of C prompted her to make the moustache. She emailed it to him — it was one of the first emails he ever got!

That wacky C… he is wearing a blanket cape and helping me cook something, and holding this stick under his nose. And he says “Like Auntie Lauren!” I guess he was thinking about that time with the moustaches.

Gathering firewood — December 3, 2005

We have really been enjoying our new wood stove. We’ve gotten a bunch of wood delivered, but it’s hard to make a fire without kindling. We got some fire-starter squares, but it still works best with a few little sticks. So, we go to the park to fill up the wagon with firewood.

A chilly Sunday Picture — December 4, 2005

December dawns chilly and clear… with some snow. We are still getting out and about Oslo. It’s not nearly as cold as back home (in Fairbanks). We bundle up the children and go about our regular weekend walks and Oslo explorations. This weekend we went to the park, in search of sticks for fire-kindling. We’ve been enjoying fires in our wood stove in the front room. We also met the chamber of commerce’s INN group (International Network of Norway) at the Norwegian Folk Museum for the holiday market.

Christmas Market — December 4, 2005

We went to the Christmas Market at the Norewgian Folk Museum in Bygdøy. It was chilly, but there were lots of other people there and lots of vendors and fun christmasy things. The Norwegian Folk Museum is a collection of buildings gathered from around Norway, preserved and set up to demonstrate various aspects of traditional Norwegian life.
