Playing with Magnets — October 1, 2005 at 8 pm |
Johannes came over tonight for dinner and games. After dinner, before C went to bed, we hung around in the sitting room and used the Roger’s Connection magnets. Chris and Johannes made some interesting shapes, and C liked to swing them around. [In the background of most of these pictures, you can see our not-yet-installed stove and dishwasher. I’ve been cooking solely in the microwave!]

This was just a neat courtyard that we saw when we were walking around one day.

Ruby and C using the puzzle — Oct 3, 2005 at 1:07 pm |
C and Ruby are working together with the numbers puzzle. C is usually pretty good about offering Ruby a part of whatever he is playing/working with. C really likes the number puzzle that grandpa Randy gave him at his first Christmas. Though he has taken to hiding the pieces around the room lately. An annoying habit!

Ruby has been doing a lot of standing these days. She pulls up confidently and is even beginning to “cruise” (walk along furniture hand-over-hand) occasionally.

Krips Comes to Visit — October 5, 2005 at 7 pm |
Our friend Kripanjali just returned from a trip home to India. She came over tonight for dinner and a visit. We stayed with Krip when we first got to Oslo, so she knows C and Ruby pretty well and we all missed her while she was gone. Krip got Ruby a beautiful little dress from India.

Ruby, asleep — October 6, 2005 at 1 pm |
I just took a couple of pictures of Ruby asleep because she is so darned cute. In the first picture she has a little french-pout because she is doing her sleep-nursing thing. Notice her pretty little nightgown, made for her Uncle Jake by my great-Aunt Shirley.

Norwegian Mountain Bread — Oct 7, 2005 at 12:20 pm |

I love the skier! So Norwegian! And for anyone not familiar with Norwegian cuisine, 70% of the time it involves slices of bread.

Today C was such a royal pain at nap time. He just did not want to go to sleep, but was being so grumpy I knew he needed a nap. He woke Ruby up with his loud protests and generally made a pest of himself in the bedroom when he was supposed to be laying in bed going to sleep. Finally after a few “get-back-in-bed” battles, he is quiet for a while. I peeked my head in and found this cute naked little curl of a boy.

Shaving — October 8, 2005 at 10 am |
Ruby and I are hanging out in the living room and C is off in the bedroom quietly entertaining himself. I thought he was practicing dressing himself (i.e. playing in his drawers). Then I heard a faint little C-voice, full of delight, saying “Shaving!” Something is not right, though I know that the razors and shaving cream are safely stowed where C would not be able to get them. I go to investigate and find C with the sun block smeared all over his face, ready to “shave”.

Enjoying an Autumn Day — October 9, 2005 |
The weather is getting chillier and the air is getting crisper but we are still able to go for a nice walk in the park. The leaves are very beautiful and C loves to gather them and carry them like a bouquet of flowers. Imagine a world where every tree had hundreds of lovely blooms and the streets are littered with blossoms. The toddler’s world is full of wonder.
