Visiting Old Mill Park — August 1, 2005 |
We took a pleasant morning trip to Old Mill Park. Grandma pushed C on the swings and Grandpa and Ruby relaxed on a bench. We also inspected the improvements to the shelter house and the new statue ib front of it.

Dinner at Gary and Patty’s — August 1, 2005 |
We went down to Gary and Patty’s for dinner. It was a lovely dinner of barbeque chicken, which of course included some fresh corn from the garden. C absolutely loved it. So did I!

Morning Outing — August 2, 2005 |
We have to make an outing in the morning or else C goes stir crazy in the house. Today we visited the inappropriately named Frog Pond (as we saw no frogs there.) We saw some fish jumping and a lot of centipedes, and some deer tracks, too. C enjoyed the fresh air and seeing the “big water”. We also stopped by the play area at a local park.

On the Walking Path at Old Mill Park — August 3, 2005 |
Today we checked out the walking path at Old Mill Park. It has specimens of every indigenous tree, with little labels. It was pretty nice, but not a very long trail. It started to rain on our way out, too!

At the Iowa City Children’s Museum — August 4, 2005 |
We visited the Iowa Children’s Museum today. It was really great. I was a big fan of the Children’s Museum in Portland, but this one had more space and seemed in general better kept-up. It was also pretty busy, there seemed to be a lot of school field trips. Downstairs C enjoyed the store and the ambulance/doctor’s office, but then we discovered the farm upstairs and that is where we spent the rest of our time. It was so cool!

Hen House Work — August 4, 2005 at 3 pm |
This was a very cool piece of equipment at the children’s museum that looked like a hen house. You put the egg in the hole, and then pull the handle and then egg dropped down.
