Lucy is napping on my hope chest! It started out as a “hope for the future” chest, as in baby clothes and embroidered dish clothes and such. Now it’s “I hope I might own it someday”, as in someday when it won’t be a pain to ship it across the world. :)

We took the wagon out to the park this afternoon. We had a little snack of pistachios and dried mango slices. Even Ruby got a piece of dried mango to suck on. She loved it.

I made this “sketch” from one of the pictures Andy took, using my favorite image manipulation program (the GIMP). The hair didn’t turn out so convincing as a pencil sketh, and the line around her right temple is also not perfect… but I love how her eyes, nose and mouth turned out. They look great!

Amber and Andy came over for one last grill before we move. It was nice to see them again; we see them all too infrequently. I am very glad they moved to Portland. It seems like it suits them very well, and it was nice to get to know them. Plus, they were part of the reason that Lauren moved here! Anyway, Andy took some very nice pictures of the children (and us), as he always does. He’s just so great at it… somehow he makes you forget that he’s got the camera and then pictures seem so much more authentic.

Amber and Andy came over for some grilling this afternoon. We had corn, which is a favorite of C’s. Andy took lots of pictures (as he usually does) and I took some pictures of Andy taking pictures of C!

Afternoon Umbrellas — July 4, 2005 at 10 am |

It was very sunny outside today, and hot on the deck. But both Ruby and C were getting a little stir-crazy being inside, and Ruby in particular loves to spend time outside. So we got out the umbrellas to use as sun-shades. C really enjoyed playing with the smaller black umbrella, and has been playing with it for a few days since.

Dinner with the Family — July 7, 2005 |

This was the first time that our whole family (the four of us, that is) has sat down together for dinner. Usually someone was holding Ruby or she was hanging out on a playmat near the table. We moved C over to a booster seat in a big chair, and Ruby sits in the high chair now! She enjoyed her biter biscuit very much (which C was calling a “biker”).
