Really not sure about the date — anyway, the missing pictures are labelled: “Above: Carl, Mother, Sis and Jurt. Taken in a Park at Sterling, Ill. in May 1924.” and “Above: Taken in the same park, at the same time, Mother, Helen, Carl, and Sister.”

Brace of Coneys — 1925 |
There was nothing written on this photo, but it’s Carl and his brother Gus. I’m not sure about the date, since I think Carl only had a mustache right after he came back from the war (1919), but the billboards look all abandoned and old so maybe it’s later than that? Maybe the billboards are only torn up because it’s winter and they didn’t replace them in winter. Anyway, early to mid 20’s is a good enough guess. And, whoa, that’s a lot of rabbits.

Schoenemans — 1925 |
This is one of my favorite pictures from the Schoenemans/Shermans collection. I guessed the date as 1925, since Sis looks about 15. This is a year after Carl was married to Violet though she is not in the photo. Their brother Walt is missing, and he started in the Marines in 1925.

With Family Friends — 1925 |
There are a few series of pictures of the Schoeneman family at this field bordered with billboards. I think it must have been near their house. There’s a smoke stack in the background that looks similar to the one seen in Carl and Violet’s wedding photos, which I assumed were taken behind their house (Carl was living with Kurt and his wife Helen in Chicago). The other family in these photos is a mystery, they are in a few other photos as well and none of them are labeled. Family friends, I guessed.

Wilhelmina — 1925 |
There was no date on this picture, of course. But the background buildings look like a lot of other pictures that were identified as Sterling, so that makes my guess mid-20’s to 30’s.

Frieda — 1925 |

I had to guess the date, Frieda looks like she’s between 15 and 20 years old. Cute dress!

Glenn’s Childhood — 1925 |
Glenn’s parents were farmers. There wasn’t a whole lot of photography back then, let alone on the farms. So there are only a few pictures of baby Glenn.

Fred and a friend — 1925 |
Bob Gydeson sent this picture to me. He said simply “Fred and a friend.” Interesting… a failed romance? The bottom says “Terrell Studio” and I think I can make out that it says “Terrell Texas” under that. I googled it, and Terrell, Texas is just outside Dallas. I wonder what Fred was doing there.

Wilhelmina wrote on the back in German, so I scanned both sides.
